The Huffington Post reported this a few days back: Brazilian police suspected in the killing of gays. The brief report states a sergeant may be involved in some way in the killing of 13 gay men in Sao Paulo. Today the AFP has put out a brief news clip saying that the State Police now believe it's a serial killer and make no mention of the original suspected officer.
I'm not sure what this world is coming to if it took 13 victims before the cops realized something wasn't right. That or they just didn't care very much. Either way it's wrong and something should be done.

Unfortunately, the Brazilian police do a lot of things. And foreign leaders don't do nearly enough.
For example, every time a foreign tourist is harassed by Brazilian police, it should be treated as an international incident.
We simply aren't giving the Brazilian government the incentive to reform their corrupt police.
I had a good friend of mine travel for business to Brazil last year... She's a structural engineer. She went out for drinks with coworkers and was arrested and spent the night in jail because the bartender thought she was a prostitute and the cops agreed.
Ends up being black in a fancy bar in a "white" part of town was enough for her to be arrested and held overnight.
She went to the embassy and tried to file a complaint, they told her to forget it that it was an honest mistake...
Good job Canadian embassy.
She should have written her MP, the foreign affairs minister and the foreign affairs critic of each party in Parliament.
That would have gotten some results.
Probably... Although I'm not sure they would have cared all that much.I have very little faith in our foreign affairs critics and our MPs (here in Quebec anyways) and she has even less faith in the system then I do.
If it ever happens to me though, I'll do exactly that and post all about the results I get. It would be an interesting experiment.
Good Greaf, how horrible! I remember a few decades ago, in Brazil, the orphans that roamed the streets were getting assassinated too.
Thanks for the comment Zurama... yeah Brazil is a tough place, I've heard stories from friends that will just turn your stomach...
