"We wish everyone to know that we, Cuban writers and artists, and also dream makers, are with Fidel now and always"
A quote attributed to Cuban artists in the Luis Baez book Absolved by History (previously pictured on this blog as being flushed down a broken toilet for being utter garbage and a propaganda tool sold to tourists with little or no literary value)
It has been over 24 hours since Ciro Diaz and Claudio Fuentes boarded a bus to go visit to Placetas to show their support political activist Jorge Luis Garcia Perez (Antunez). As far as we know they are still in state custody.
The plan today is to put as much pressure as we can and press for their release. The telephone number of Lutenant Colonel Fulgencio (53) 42 213800!! If calling from outside Cuba: 011-53-42-88-2994.
Call. Make inquiries. Pretend you're from the foreign press. Anything.
Stay tuned for more.

Cuba is a train wreck, and it can all be laid squarely on the shoulders of Castro. It amazes me that people still consider the atrocity of the Cuban dictatorship to be credible.
I hope for the speedy release of these men, although I won't hold my breath. I don't expect any help to come from Obama either. I'm sure he thinks things are just fine in Cuba.
It's funny, or maybe not, that so many people around the world hate America and do so much to bring us down. If they spent half that amount of effort and money to help people in places like Cuba and Darfur, the world would be a much better place. Just a thought.
You're completely right. It is a vile and corrupt establishment in Cuba. And you're also right: if all the haters actually concentrated on these evil little places, Burma, Cuba, Darfur would all be fixed and the world would be a better place.
I am happy however to report that they are both home now and it appears that were charged with something silly like civil disobedience.
I'll post when I know more!
